Naturopathic Medicine and Transitional Wellness

As Wellness Consultants, we take a naturopathic approach to health which involves a non-invasive physical assessment to determine specific nutritional deficiencies. If warranted, simple laboratory tests can be used to reveal how well nutrition is absorbed and utilized. Once we have enough information, we create a lifestyle program based on individual needs which includes dietary recommendations, exercise suggestions and may advise whole food supplements to address imbalances.

Questions You May Have About Transitional Wellness:

Q. What makes us different?

A.  We focus on the effects of stress in your life. Research has shown that while a certain amount of stress is actually required to remain healthy, problems arise when stress becomes more than we can handle.
We recognize that stress comes in three forms: emotional, structural and chemical (i.e., nutritional). We know that the body will always respond to any form of stress in very specific and predictable ways.

Q. How do we discover the type of stress you’re dealing with?

A.  First, we listen to you describe your symptoms. For example, complaints of fatigue, headache, gas and bloating, heartburn, constipation and/or diarrhea, irritability, restlessness, insomnia, stiff, sore joints, and anxiety or depression often suggest a need for dietary modification. Secondly, we look at the body itself for evidence of stress. Are you standing straight? How flexible are you? Structural imbalances are often the result of nutritional stress, and this kind of stress can affect structural balance.

Q. What is our basic approach?

A.  Because the body must maintain its internal environment (i.e., homeostasis), we know that any deviation from the normal values will produce symptoms. We look for and address the underlying causes of those symptoms. We believe in the healing power of the body and use natural, whole foods to nourish the body, rather than address the symptoms. We do not diagnose nor prescribe drugs. We simply give the body what it needs to be well.

Q. How do we determine what is needed?

A.  We assess nutrient intake and metabolism based on your individual needs. Very simply, we look at what you are eating and how well you can absorb the nutrients.  Once we analyze your diet and improve digestion, we can nutritionally support the organs and tissues that may be under stress.

Q. Why should you consider being evaluated?

A.  The purpose of an evaluation is preventive, i.e., to identify imbalances before they exhaust the body’s reserves.  Then we can make appropriate recommendations and allow the body to heal naturally and return to balance.

At transitional wellness, we support your journey and your transition to wellness.  When you’re ready, give us a call.
As Wellness Consultants, we adhere to the following naturopathic principles:

  • Trust in the body’s inherent wisdom to heal
  • Look beyond symptoms to the underlying causes
